Happiness Machine

Just found a viral of a Coca-cola campaign that i think is brilliant.

A vending machine dispensing coke has a man placed in side, who proceeds to hand out goodies such as popcorn, strawberries and cream and the game Twister to uni students.

It's so so simple, and even though it's not something unbelievable, it is out of the ordinary, and really does seem to bring happiness to these students. I only wish it had happened at my uni too. I'm sure it would bring a little cheer to my day.

Watch it here.

Debenhams lead the way

Finally, it seems that somebody is actually listening to the consumer, not just pretending to.

Debenhams have decided to produce an unairbrushed image of a swimwear model, alongside an annotated, airbrushed version. Here's the full article.

Airbrushed images create low self esteem and a lack of body confidence.

Being curvy myself, I for one, am glad that this at least seems to be showing progress towards using real images of real women, not something that is unattainable.

They also recently used a size 16 model for some of their advertising, and it's about time; the size of the average UK woman is now 16, not the trim 12 it was a few years ago.

I'm not saying that being overweight is healthy but shouldn't we at least show skin tonation and fly-away hairs. Everyone has them; shouldn't it be celebrated like the "Love your body" Dove campaign?

Plus if they are advertising clothes, wouldn't it be an added bonus if they looked fabulous on even an unmade-up woman?

Gemma Correll

Gemma Correll. I almost love this girl. Or certainly what she does.
I love the simplicity of her drawings and how most of them involve pugs (cute) or kittens (very cute).

She also has a shop on Etsy where you can buy her delights..

Grandma's House

I watched the second episode of Simon Amstell's new sitcom yesterday. The first I felt was pretty dire, but I thought I'd give it a chance and show some love and loyalty to Amstell; who I almost religiously watched on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

I know it's meant to be quite dry but did anyone else notice him smirking the whole time? It was as if he knew a joke was coming up, was eager with anticipation to get it out, and perhaps even smug that he had created it.

Perhaps it was also a little too autobiographical, a little too simple. It wasn't as quirky as I'd expect from Amstell, and it left me disappointed. There weren't great lines and Simon's acting is showed up by the rest of the cast.

That said, I'll probably still watch it next week. I can't help but hope Simon will do better.

Kittens

I love kittens. And cats. Facts.
So I just purchased this.
Isn't it just brilliant?
I cannot wait to wear it. I'll place it in my cupboard next to my "three cats playing keyboards and looking at the moon" tee.
Mrowww.

Matt and Kim

So, I'm still at twentysix and they play some pretty awesome music here.

I've just discovered Matt and Kim. They're a quirky little duo from Brooklyn, NY.
He almost can't sing but he gives it his all and they genuinely look like they're just having lots of fun and I love that. I especially like Daylight. It makes me smile and reminds me of summer days and Brighton beach and makes me think of lens flares.

"Sit back and wave through the daylight,
Sit back and wave through the daylight..."

twentysix

So, it's been a while since I last posted anything, but the last year has gone so quickly. After I completed my dissertation (phew!) I won the opportunity to complete a month of work experience in an international consulting agency in Madrid; Bloom Consulting. I went with five other class mates, and despite our long hours, managed to cram in a lot of fun and had a great time living together. This set us all back about £900 though, so I'm still living with the repurcussions.

Now I've graduated with a 2.1 in Advertising and Brand Communication, and I'm eagerly looking for work.

I'm currently at an internship at twentysix london, a digital advertising agency, and I'm having a great time. It's useful to see how everything works and I've been trained up on a CMS and left in charge of an airport's intranet as a Digital Content Editor. This was a big responsibility, but something I was enjoying.

The airport have now been handed the reigns to do their own editing, so I don't know where my future here will lie..
