Home Street Home

Also, I just found this ambient advertisement.

It reminded me of a D&AD brief that was set last year for Shelter.
It's so so simple and utterly briliant.
These cardboard signs were hung up in places where homeless people regularly slept, reminding those more fortunate that for some; the pavement was their bed.

I really wish I had thought of this.

Handmade Nation

I'm very excited to hear about there now being a Handmade Nation DVD!

Faythe Levine wrote a brilliant book of the same title and has now made a documentary, focusing on the rise of d.i.y arts and crafts.

I'm currently writing my dissertation (hence the lack of blog) on the subject of Authenticity, and the role handcrafting plays in a manufactured world, and this would be so so useful if it weren't so costly. I'm very interested in handcrafting, and as a crafter myself, and I'm actually quite enjoying the research, it's all the typing up and theory which is getting to me, and only about a month to go 'till hand in. :/

Still, I'll have a look around, and hopefully it'll be added to my DVD collection quite soon.
